The Prairie View A&M softball team turned in a dominant 2024–25 season, finishing with a 21–3 SWAC record and claiming the SWAC Western Division title. Under the leadership of Head Coach Vernon Bland, the Lady Panthers combined elite pitching, explosive offense, and standout individual performances to cement themselves as one of the conference's top programs.
Senior pitcher Cailin Massey anchored the rotation and was named the 2025 SWAC Pitcher of the Year. Massey finished with a 2.49 ERA, nine conference wins, and five complete games. She also earned a spot on the All-SWAC First Team.
Senior outfielder Janaiya Thomas made an immediate impact, earning SWAC Newcomer of the Year honors. She led the team with a .368 batting average and added 40 RBIs, 39 hits, and 18 stolen bases en route to All-SWAC First Team recognition.

Coach Bland was also named 2025 SWAC Coach of the Year, after guiding PVAMU to its third straight division title.

In a 5–3 win over Texas Southern (Apr. 18), Massey and Thomas each went 2-for-4 with RBI performances.

During a doubleheader sweep of Southern, Thomas drove in a pair of runs with a clutch triple, while Massey tossed a complete game to secure a 4–3 victory.

In the SWAC Tournament, junior pitcher Moreno battled through a complete game against Bethune-Cookman, and senior Halley Elizarraras provided strong relief out of the bullpen.
The Lady Panthers also earned national recognition as the 2024–25 NCAA Division I statistical champion in Stolen Bases Per Game, leading the country with an aggressive and successful approach on the basepaths.
With a deep roster, experienced leadership, and rising young talent, Prairie View A&M softball continues to build on its championship tradition and looks poised for even greater success in the seasons ahead.
