Five Prairie View A&M Players score as the Panthers take a 48-5 win over Alabama A&M in Huntsville

HUNTSVILLE, Alabama -- Five different players reached the end zone, led by three scores from Jyzaiah Rockwell, as Prairie View A&M rolled past Alabama A&M 48-5 on Saturday afternoon inside Louis Crews Stadium.

The Panthers improved to 7-3 on the year and 5-1 in Southwestern Athletic Conference play, while the Bulldogs fell to 4-6 and 1-5.

Cameron Peters led Prairie View A&M's passing attack with 394 yards through the air, tossing five touchdowns without throwing an interception.
Shadrick Byrd led all Panthers rushers with 75 yards and one touchdown in the contest, picking up 6.8 yards per carry. Chase Bingmon also added 39 yards on the ground.

Rockwell reeled in eight catches for 183 yards and three scores. Andre Dennis got in on the action in the passing game as well, hauling in four balls for 89 yards. The Panthers also got 56 yards receiving and one touchdown from Chaney Fitzgerald in the contest.

Team paced the Prairie View A&M defensive effort, recording . Travor Randle added four tackles and 1.0 TFL and Ashton Ojiaku had in the win.

Offensively, Prairie View A&M had an outstanding day, racking up 607 total yards, 213 on the ground and 394 through the air, while averaging 10 yards per play and out-gaining Alabama A&M. The Prairie View A&M offense did a good job extending drives, converting on 55.6 percent of third-down attempts.

Defensively, Prairie View A&M held up fairly well against the Alabama A&M offensive attack, holding the Bulldogs to 204 total yards. The Panthers kept Alabama A&M under 150 yards on both the ground and through the air, allowing 101 passing and 103 rushing yards.

Prairie View A&M took care of business in the red zone, scoring three times on three trips inside Alabama A&M's 20-yard line, with all of those scores being touchdowns.

How It Happened
Alabama A&M scored first to take a 5-0 lead, but Prairie View A&M fired back with 5:14 left in the second quarter to go up 7-5 on a 39 yard score by Ja'Koby Banks.  The Panthers then followed with another score to grow the lead to 13-5.

Prairie View A&M continued to increase its advantage, scoring again with 11:48 left in the third quarter to go ahead 20-5.The Panthers continued to build their advantage, scoring again to go up 27-5.

Prairie View A&M continued to extend its lead, scoring again with 13:39 remaining in the fourth quarter to go ahead 34-5.The Panthers kept scoring, tacking on a touchdown to extend their advantage to 41-5.

Prairie View A&M held the Bulldogs off the board before scoring for a final time with 3:26 left in the fourth quarter, stretching their lead to 48-5. Neither team scored again in the game.
