Prairie View A&M's Panthers demonstrated impressive performances in their first outdoor track and field meet of the season, held on March 15, 2025, at the McNeese Cowboy Relays in Lake Charles, LA. Throughout an eventful day, Panther athletes from both men's and women's teams showcased their talents across a range of running, racing, and field events, amassing several top placements against their host, McNeese State University.
In women's competitions, significant achievements included the Women's 4x800 team, consisting of
Lea Murphy,
Miracle Price,
Kamara Bradleyk, and Nikaiyah Williams who clinched third place. Janaya Wilkins delivered a robust performance in the 100m, landing fourth place with a time of 12.04 seconds.
Lea Murphy also secured a fifth-place finish in the 1500m run. The Women's 4x400m relay team, comprised of
Treasure Bethea,
Nikiyah Williams,
Janiya Wilkins, and Tyshi Renolds, earned a solid second place.
The field events further highlighted the prowess of the Panther women.
Madison Muckelroy topped the pole vault with a mark of 3.15 meters. In the shot put,
Keonna Otis stood out with a throw of 14.40 meters, while
Morgan Davila and
Demaya Malone both excelled in the high jump, securing the best mark of 1.60 meters, with Davila prevailing due to fewer missed attempts. Otis also dominated the discus, recording the best throw at 47.78 meters.
The men's team also saw commendable success. The 4x100m relay team, which included Jaden Smith,
Eric Brooks,
Devin Miller, and
Julian Dawkins, took third place with a competitive time of 41.23 seconds. Brooks excelled individually, securing second place in the 100m dash with a time of 10.70 seconds. In field events,
Devin Miller topped the high jump at 2.03 meters, and
Kaiden Berry grabbed the second spot in the shot put with a throw of 16.09 meters.
Looking ahead, The Panthers are set to host the 91st PV Relays at the Prairie View A&M Track Complex on March 21-22, 2025, in Prairie View, TX. With the home advantage, the team is eager to continue their strong performance in front of a supportive home crowd.
