GAME 1 | Prairie View A&M 8, Mississippi Valley State 1
JACKSON, Miss. --Senior Leonardo Bravo had everything working on Friday, punching out eight Mississippi Valley State hitters over seven innings of work to help propel the Prairie View A&M Panthers over the Delta Devils 8-1.
In addition to his eight strikeouts, Bravo tossed seven innings, giving up one run on three hits and walking three for Prairie View A&M (15-33, 11-11). Sophomore Demarques Thompson also made an impact on the mound for the Panthers, throwing one scoreless inning while allowing no hits, with no walks and three strikeouts.
The Panthers were paced in the batter's box by junior Michael Burroughs, who went 2-for-4 on the day with a double and three RBIs. Senior Jayden Williams gave a noteworthy performance on the plate as well, going 3-for-5. Sophomore Landon Williams also contributed for Prairie View A&M, putting together one hit in three trips to the plate while adding a double and an RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Panthers got the scoring started early, putting one run on the board in the top of the first inning. Sophomore Ahmar Donatto came across to score the lone run of the inning for Prairie View A&M and get them on the board.
The Delta Devils failed to push any runs across before the Panthers' offense got back to their scoring ways the next inning. Sophomore Michael Smith came across to score the lone run of the inning for Prairie View A&M, which brought the score to 2-0 in favor of the Panthers.
Prairie View A&M kept Mississippi Valley State scoreless before expanding their lead to 4-0 in the following inning. The Panthers added two runs off of Mississippi Valley State pitching, punctuated by a run-scoring double off the bat of sophomore Landon Williams.
Prairie View A&M held the Delta Devils without a run before building on their lead in the fifth inning. The three-run frame for the Panthers was punctuated by a two-run single off the bat of Burroughs. bringing the Prairie View A&M advantage to 7-0.
Mississippi Valley State got within 7-1 until the Panthers scored again in the eighth inning to stretch its lead to 8-1. Prairie View A&M pushed across a run on Burroughs' RBI double. The score remained 8-1 for the rest of the game, as the Panthers coasted to the win.

JACKSON, Miss. --Prairie View A&M received contributions from every part of their lineup, as all nine starters reached base safely, helping the Panthers put 14 runs on the board and take down the Mississippi Valley State Delta Devils 14-1 Friday.
Freshman Kamar Dove (0-0) started on the mound, going the distance to pick up the win for Prairie View A&M (16-33, 12-11). The right-hander went seven innings, giving up one run on three hits, allowing five walks and striking out three.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Panthers got on the board immediately, starting their scoring with one run in the top of the first inning.
The Delta Devils failed to push any runs across before the Panthers' offense got back to their scoring ways the next inning. Prairie View A&M scored three runs in the frame, buoyed by a two-run homer from senior Marshal Jonas, which brought the score to 6-0 in favor of the Panthers.
Prairie View A&M kept Mississippi Valley State without a run before expanding their lead to 10-0 in the following inning. The Panthers' bats heated up in the inning, scoring four runs, including a two-run triple off the bat of senior Jayden Williams.
Prairie View A&M held the Delta Devils scoreless before expanding their lead in the fifth inning. Freshman Sonnier Moses and sophomore Ahmar Donatto each scored a run for the Panthers in the inning, bringing the score to 12-0 in favor of Prairie View A&M.
The Panthers held Mississippi Valley State without a run before building on their lead to 14-0 in the seventh inning. Prairie View A&M managed to push across two runs in the inning. Mississippi Valley State put one run on the scoreboard before the game was over, but the Panthers still coasted to the 14-1 win.
