Prairie View A&M turned in several notable performances at the Michael Johnson Invitational, highlighted by strong finishes, a season-best distance mark and two fast 400-meter efforts across the April 24-25 meet at Clyde Hart Track and Field Stadium in Waco, Texas.
The Panthers' complete team results are available online, but Prairie View A&M's top individual efforts stood out over the two-day meet. Thierry Garcon opened the weekend with a season-best 15:36.20 in the 5,000 meters on Day 1, good for sixth place. That gave the Panthers an early highlight in a competitive field and established one of the team's best distance results of the meet.
On Day 2, Devin Miller delivered Prairie View A&M's top finish by clearing 2.06 meters to place second in the high jump. Miller's mark put him near the top of the event and added another field-event boost for the Panthers. In the sprints, De'Trevyon Goudeau clocked a personal-best 46.02 in the 400 meters, finishing fourth at the meet. The time also moved Goudeau to No. 25 in the NCAA West Region, giving Prairie View A&M one of its most significant performances of the weekend.
Bryce McFadden also posted a personal best in the 400, running 47.12 as the Panthers showed depth in the event. With Goudeau and McFadden both setting new personal records, Prairie View A&M saw one of its clearest signs of progress late in the outdoor season. The combination of Miller's runner-up finish, Garcon's season-best race and the pair of 400-meter personal bests gave the Panthers productive performances on both the track and in the field.
Prairie View A&M now turns its attention to its next competition, the Horned Frog Invitational, scheduled for May 1-2 at TCU.
