The Prairie View A&M Panthers secured impressive placements at the HBCU Showcase held on January 18, 2025, at The Armory in New York City. The event featured a series of strong performances, setting a positive tone for the season.
In the competitive field,
Sanai Kintchen and
Lashavia Barclay led the way for the Panthers by qualifying for the finals in the 60-meter hurdles. Kintchen completed her sprint in 8.62 seconds while Barclay achieved a personal record with a time of 8.86 seconds. Additionally, in the 400 meters,
Jasir Miller placed fifth with a time of 57.35,
Lea Murphy showed consistency by finishing seventh in the 800 meters timed at 2:18.86 and sixth in the mile at 5:22.33.
Raina Thomas excelled in the high jump, securing second place with a jump of 1.60 meters.
On the field,
Syriah Burks claimed victory in the pole vault, clearing 3.30 meters, while
Madison Muckelroy and
Jaliyah Gray also performed well, finishing second and fourth respectively.
Jordyn Hubbert contributed with a fifth-place finish, clearing 2.70 meters.
In men's events, notable outcomes included
Eric Brooks securing seventh place in the 200 meters with a time of 21.90 seconds.
Thierry Garcon showed versatility by placing fourth in the mile at 4:27.96 and fifth in the 3000 meters with a time of 9:00.96.
Devin Miller impressed with a second-place finish in the high jump at 2.05 meters and
Darryl Muckelroy matched that placing in the pole vault at 4.40 meters.
Kaiden Berry also threw an impressive 15.15 meters in the shot put for third place. The men's 4x400m relay team, consisting of
Camdyn Parsee,
Bryce McFadden,
Caleb Atkinson-Harrison, and
Christion Derrick, clinched third place with a time of 3:16.47.
