Men's Track Places Ninth, Puts Two on the Podium at SWAC Outdoor Championships

Prairie View A&M men's track and field closed its outdoor season with two podium finishes and a ninth-place team result at the SWAC Outdoor Championships, scoring 44 points over the May 10-12 meet at A.W. Mumford Stadium in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The Panthers' top finishes came from Darryl Muckelroy, who placed second in the men's pole vault at 4.42 meters, and Ronzell Woods, who finished second in the men's 400-meter hurdles in a personal-best 52.43 seconds.

Those results led a solid championship effort for Prairie View A&M in a meet that featured large fields across the conference. Woods' runner-up finish gave the Panthers one of their strongest track performances of the weekend, while Muckelroy delivered another key scoring result in the field events. Devin Miller also added points in the men's high jump, taking fifth place with a clearance of 2.07 meters, and Christian Jones scored in the decathlon with a sixth-place finish and 4,886 points.

Prairie View A&M also produced several finals appearances in the middle- and long-distance events. Sebastian Cruz turned in one of the team's best distance results, finishing fourth in the men's 800 meters in 1:51.34. Thierry Garcon scored in both distance races, taking fourth in the men's 5,000 meters in 15:25.84 and sixth in the men's 10,000 meters in 35:37.84. Eli Jacobs and Marcus Lewis both competed in the men's 1,500-meter final, adding to the Panthers' presence in championship races.

In the sprints, Prairie View A&M reached the men's 400-meter final with Detrevyon Goudeau and Bryce McFadden in the field. McFadden placed seventh in 47.50 seconds. The Panthers also scored in both relays. The men's 4x100-meter relay team of Bryce McFadden, Julian Dawkins, Christian Hodges and Eric Brooks finished seventh in 41.03, and the men's 4x400-meter relay of McFadden, Sebastian Cruz, Jabari Stocker and Christian Hodges placed fifth in 3:12.04.

The meet marked the final competition of the season for Prairie View A&M, and the Panthers finished it with scoring performances spread across hurdles, vault, jumps, distance races, relays and the decathlon. With two second-place finishes, multiple finalists and a 44-point showing, Prairie View A&M wrapped up the SWAC championships with contributions throughout the roster.
