LUBBOCK, TX --The Prairie View A&M volleyball team fell to the Portland State Vikings in four sets (23-25, 17-25, 26-24, 21-25) and Texas Tech in 5 sets (25-23, 26-24, 17-25, 20-25, 9-15) on Thursday at United Supermarkets Arena.
The non-conference losses dropped Prairie View A&M to 0-8Â on the season.
GAME 1 - Portland State
The Lady Panthers attack was paced by D'Mya Hill, who finished with 11 kills on the day, and by Iyonna Sherwood, who had 11 while hitting .45. Defensively, had two players reach double figures in digs as Camille Middleton had 14 and Tayler Ruffin had 13. From the front row, Daniella Udegbunam contributed five blocks.

The Lady Panthers persevered in a back-and-forth set to win 26-24 in a stanza that featured four lead changes and was tied 11 times. Neither team opened up a lead of more than three points along the way. Prairie View A&M's front row had a solid defensive performance, blocking seven Portland State attacks in the stanza and capitalizing on 12 Portland State attacking errors on the way to victory.
SET 4 | Prairie View A&M couldn't build off the set-three victory and lost in the fourth set 25-21 to drop the match. The Lady Panthers trailed by as many as six points as Portland State grabbed the advantage for good at 10-9 and Prairie View A&M was never able to recover in a set that was tied up three times before the Vikings took over the lead.
GAME 2 - Texas Tech
The Lady Panthers were led by a double-double from D'Mya Hill, who registered 16 kills and 10 digs on the day. Valencia Wilder also added 13 kills to help the offense. On the defensive end, Camille Middleton chipped in for with 21 digs to go with six blocks from Wilder.
