Beverly Day-Humphrey began her athletic career at Dallas Lincoln High School, where she realized her potential in track and field as she quickly became a standout in the sprint and relay races. Because of her athletic prowess, she was able to receive a full scholarship to the prestigious HBCU, Prairie View A&M University and began her assault on “The Hill”, where she continued her winning ways. She earned All-American honors 4 straight years as an athlete at Prairie View A&M University. She was also selected as Freshman of the Year, Most Outstanding Runner in her sophomore year and Most Valuable Runner in her junior year. She qualified for the 1976 Olympic Trials in the 100 Meters, 200 Meters, and 400 Meters. She again rose to the occasion and became a finalist in the 200 Meters.

She currently serves as Chief of Athletics as well as the Head Girls Track Coach. Coach Humphrey is the winningest Track & Field coach male or female, in the state of Texas with 13 UIL stat
