Known on campus by the nickname “Roscoe”, Gross helped return the PVAMU men’s track & field team back to prominence during the late 1990s and early 2000s under former head coach Hoover Wright.

The Elkhart, Texas native arrived to “The Hill” after a solid high school career and made a name for himself in 1998 as he helped lead the PVAMU men’s track & field team to their first-ever SWAC Indoor Championship.  During the 1998 outdoor season, Gross was a member of a mile relay team which recorded the third-fastest time in the nation at the Georgia Tech/Reebok Invitational.  As a result of the team’s effort, which was a school record, Prairie View A&M advanced to the 1998 NCAA Track & Field Championships in Buffalo, NY.  Individually, Gross also excelled during the 1998 season as he ranked 18th nationally in the 400 while winning the 200-meter dash at the SWAC Championship.

Gross continued his dominance as he guided the Panthers to the 2000 SWAC Indoor Championship and back-to-back SWAC Outdoor Championships in 1999 and 2000.  Gross also claimed individual titles in the 200 and 400-meter races in 2000 while also participating on the mile relay championship team during the 1999 SWAC Outdoor Championships.

Active in community efforts across Waller County ranging from youth to philanthropic events, Gross graduated from Prairie View A&M in 2002 with a bachelor’s in human performance.
