    2006 SWAC Championship Volleyball Team
The second SWAC Championship team in the history of program, the 2006 Prairie View A&M Volleyball Team posted the most wins ever (23) on its way to the second NCAA Tournament appearance.

The team featured two second team All-SWAC performers in Crystal Stigler and current PVAMU head volleyball coach Tacho (Richard) Tyler, who also was the league’s Newcomer of the Year, SWAC Tournament MVP and a member of the SWAC All-Tournament team with team mate Ashley Campbell.

Alicia Pete (current Associate AD / Internal Operations) was named Coach of the Year as the team ranked third in the country in service aces while ranking number one in the SWAC in hitting percentage, kills, and service aces.

The Lady Panthers’ season got rolling in September, rolling off six straight wins and seven of the last nine to end the month. The momentum carried into October and a five-game winning streak wins of nine of 11 matches.

Following a mid-October defeat, Prairie View A&M won eight of its final nine matches, including all five November matches including an undefeated run through the SWAC Tournament. A thrilling 3-2 win in the championship match in the William J. Nicks Building clinched the SWAC Championship and an NCAA Tournament appearance against Texas.
