Robert Allen Batteaux entered Prairie View A&M College on a basketball and tennis athletic scholarship after graduating from Phyllis Wheatley High School in Houston, Texas.   While at Prairie View, he was a two-Year letterman in Basketball (1963-65) and a four-year letterman in Tennis (1963-67).   From 1963-67, he was an All-SWAC Performer in Tennis.  In 1966, Robert was a key member of the PV Tennis team that advanced to the Championship round of the NAIA Tournament and placed fifth in the nation.   The team won four consecutive SWAC Championships from 1964-67.  The doubles team of Robert Batteaux and Donald Bennett were SWAC Doubles Champions from 1964-66 and won the Doubles Championship with Joe Robertson in 1967.  In 1966 and 1967, Robert was the SWAC Champion in Singles play. He served as Captain of the tennis team in 1966 and 1967.
 
Robert obtained a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education in 1968.  After serving his country for two years in the U.S. Army, he obtained a Master of Education in Guidance and Counseling from Prairie View A&M College and a Master of Science in Physical Education at Texas Southern University.  Robert taught Physical Education on all levels during his career with the Houston Independent School District.  He has had many successful coaching experiences with district championship teams in basketball, golf and tennis.
 
Robert is married to his college sweetheart, Patricia Davis Batteaux.  They are the proud parents of three sons, Robert Anthony, Patrick Alan and Roderick Warren.
