The men's track and field team excelled at the SMU Invitational held in Dallas, Texas on May 3, 2025. The Panthers, participating in what marked their last regular season meet, dominated across various events, securing multiple top finishes.
Highlighting the meet for the Panthers was the men's 4x100m relay team, consisting of
Isaiah Barnes,
Julian Dawkins,
Christion Derrick, and
Eric Brooks, who clinched first place with a time of 40.47 seconds.
Bryce McFadden also stood out by winning the 400m race in 48.11 seconds, while
Todd Woods and
A'isayah Brown took third and fourth place in the same event with times of 49.08 and 49.98 seconds, respectively.
In the sprints,
Isaiah Barnes posted a competitive time in the 100m dash, clocking in at 10.81 seconds, while in the 200m,
Christion Derrick and Barnes secured second and third place with times of 21.41 and 21.50 seconds. The 4x400m relay team comprising
Bryce McFadden,
Kendon Hill,
A'isayah Brown, and
Jabari Stocker continued the Panthers' relay success by taking first place in an outstanding time of 3:17.55.
The team also saw commendable performances in middle-distance and field events.
Thierry Garcon placed eighth in the 1500m with a time of 4:09:00, and
Caleb Atkinson-Harris took fourth in the 800m at 1:56.86.
Devin Miller added to the team's achievements with a third-place finish in the high jump, clearing a height of 1.98 meters.
Looking ahead, Prairie View A&M is set to compete next in the SWAC Championships, which will take place on May 11, 2025, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The Panthers aim to carry forward their momentum from Dallas as they prepare for the conference championships.
